Dyspraxia, also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), is a neurological condition that affects physical coordination and movement. While it is often diagnosed in childhood, its effects can persist into adulthood, impacting various aspects of daily life. Despite being relatively common, dyspraxia is frequently misunderstood and misdiagnosed, leading to challenges in receiving appropriate support.
Dyspraxia affects motor coordination and planning, making it difficult for individuals to perform everyday tasks that require movement and coordination. It is not related to intelligence, but it can impact learning and social interactions. The condition can affect both fine and gross motor skills, making activities like writing, buttoning a shirt, or riding a bicycle challenging.
